Thor began his career with AFSCME in 2007 as an Organizer with Council 40, Wisconsin. Like Council 65, he worked with county, city, school district, and private sector employees to organize new unions, help reorganize existing locals, and fight back against damaging privatizing efforts. The 2010 election of Scott Walker, and passage of the union-busting law: Act 10, shifted Council 40’s focus. Hundreds of internal organizing campaigns were launched to maintain membership. This provided him the opportunity to learn to organize under very intense and challenging circumstances. It’s been a pleasure and an honor to work with Council 65 members and staff in Minnesota and the Dakotas since July of 2016.
