55th Annual AFSCME Council 65 Convention

On October 5th and 6th 2018 AFSCME Council 65 Delegates will gather in Mankto Minnesota for our 55th annual convention.  There will be workshop opportunities on Friday, Elections of AFSCME Council 65 officers and Executive Board positions, eduction on the Janus decision, political candidtes for the upcoming elections in November and lots of delegates to connect with.  We hope you will send a delegate and have your Local union represented.

To become a delegate you must be elected by your Local at a union meeting. All registration information was sent to Local union Presidents.

Again this year, we are planning a number of workshops on important issues and problems which will be held on Friday, October 5th.  Workshops will be held on Friday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. and upon recess Friday afternoon REGISTER HERE!

There will be a banquet/reception for the delegates from 7:00 p.m. to 12 a.m. Friday evening. Music and dancing will follow compliments of the Mankato area AFSCME locals who are serving as host for the convention.  Check our website for updates and information at www.afscme65.org.

Included in the business to come before the convention will be the election of President, Recording Secretary, and eight additional members (4 district executive board seats and 4 at large). One of which must be MLPNA Local 105 and one South Dakota local union member. Each of these is for a two-year term. Delegates will also be electing 2 trustee positions (for a two and three-year term). Nominations for officers and trustee shall take place on Friday, October 5th, with voting to be conducted from 9:15 – 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6th.

Any proposed amendment to the Council 65 constitution must be submitted 45 days prior to the convention. Any proposed resolution must be submitted 20 days prior to the convention.
